Step into the enchanting world of “Lerner and Loewe’s Brigadoon,” the beloved musical where romance and magic meet in the misty Scottish Highlands. When two American travelers wandering through the countryside stumble upon the mysterious village of Brigadoon, they discover a place untouched by time—a village that appears for only one day every hundred years. ​As one of the visitors, Tommy, finds himself drawn to the warm-hearted Fiona and the charm of this extraordinary community, he must decide where he truly belongs. With lush melodies, spirited dancing, and unforgettable songs, “Brigadoon” tells a timeless story about love, sacrifice, and the pull of a place where life is lived simply and sincerely.​

 

“Lerner and Loewe’s Brigadoon” will be directed by Frank Del Giudice, with Shawn McIntire as musical director and Amy Brophy as chorographer.

 

Auditions will take place at the following dates/times/places:
 

Sunday, August 2, 2p-5p at Saint Joeseph’s Little Sisters of the Poor, 80 West Northwest Hwy., Palatine;

 

Monday, August 3, 6:30p-9:30p at Cutting Hall, 150 E Wood St., Palatine;

 

Callbacks (by invitation only) Wednesday, August 5th, starting at 6:00p. Saint Joeseph’s Little Sisters of the Poor, 80 West Northwest Hwy., Palatine.

 

Prepare 32 bars of an up-tempo song or a ballad in the style of the show. Bring sheet music in the correct key with your start and stop points clearly marked. Be prepared to dance. You may prepare a 2-minute monologue (optional) and/or you may be asked to read from the script. This show is rated G and is suitable for all audiences. Children ages 8+ are encouraged to audition for ensemble roles.

Rehearsals for “Lerner and Loewe’s Brigadoon” will be held in Palatine beginning, Sunday August 9th for orientation and read thru. The rehearsal schedule will be: Sundays 6-10p, Monday through Thursday from 7-10p.

 

Tech Week is Sunday, September 20 through Friday, September 25. This is a week earlier than tech would normally be; there is a conflict with the venue that was imposed on us after licensing. You will still rehearse the week prior to opening, just not on stage in the theatre.

Tommy Albright

Male-presenting, 20s-40s. A charming, thoughtful American visiting Scotland who stumbles upon Brigadoon and finds himself questioning the life he thought he wanted. Romantic lead. Strong actor and singer. Vocal range: Baritone/Tenor.

 

Fiona MacLaren

Female-presenting, 20s-30s. Warm, intelligent, and strong-willed. Fiona is a young woman of Brigadoon who falls deeply in love with Tommy. Graceful and sincere with a strong emotional presence. Vocal range: Soprano.

 

Supporting (“also starring” billing)

 

Jeff Douglas

Male-presenting, 20s-40s. Tommy’s cynical, witty best friend. A sharp contrast to Tommy’s romantic nature, Jeff is skeptical of Brigadoon and provides much of the show’s humor. Strong comedic timing required. Vocal range: Non-singing or limited singing role.

 

Meg Brockie

Female-presenting, 20s-40s. Bold, funny, flirtatious, and full of personality. Meg is determined to win Jeff’s attention and brings high comic energy to the show. Strong character actor with comedic confidence. Vocal range: Mezzo/Alto.

 

Charlie Dalrymple

Male-presenting,20s-30s. A joyful young man of Brigadoon, engaged to Jean MacLaren. Kind-hearted, enthusiastic, and romantic. Strong singer and mover preferred. Vocal range: Tenor.

Harry Beaton

Male-presenting,20s-30s. Intense, brooding, and deeply troubled. Harry is in love with Jean and struggles with jealousy and despair. Strong actor and dancer/mover preferred.

 

Maggie Anderson

Female-presenting, late teens-20s. Maggie is primarily a dancing role, playing important/solo parts in two of the show’s ballets. Vocal range: Non-singing or limited singing role.

 

Jean MacLaren

Female-presenting, late teens-20s. Fiona’s younger sister and Charlie’s bride-to-be. Sweet, graceful, and innocent.; strong Featured dancer role ballet or lyrical dance ability preferred.

Male-presenting, 50s+. The wise schoolmaster of Brigadoon who understands the village’s mysterious miracle. Warm, grounded, and authoritative.

Ensemble / Villagers of Brigadoon

All genders, various ages. The ensemble plays the villagers of Brigadoon and is central to creating the world of the show. Strong singers and dancers needed for group numbers, wedding scenes, market scenes, and traditional Scottish-inspired movement. Featured roles and solos may be assigned from the ensemble.
